Our Founder

Rayanna Boodram is a dynamic Caribbean agricultural consultant, educator, and editor whose work spans the intersections of sustainable agriculture, aquaculture, gender equity, project management, and climate resilience. With over a decade of professional experience, she is the Founder and Lead Consultant of Rainforest Agricultural Consultancy (RAC) and the Editor of Green Caribbean Magazine, two platforms through which she empowers communities, institutions, and youth to thrive in the green and blue economy.
Rayanna holds a Bachelors Degree in Environmental and Natural Resources Management, minors in Marine Biology and Botany, a Masters Degree in Crop Protection and a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Crop Science from the University of the West Indies, where her groundbreaking research focused on hydroponic sweet potato production in non-recirculating systems—offering innovative, climate-smart solutions for Caribbean food security. She is currently a doctoral student.
Since then, she has led and implemented a wide range of training and development projects in hydroponics, aquaponics, vertical farming, seed banking, and Agroprocessing throughout Trinidad and Tobago, Antigua, St. Kitts & Nevis, and Guyana.
She founded RAC in the year 2021 and since then it is known for its hands-on, grassroots-oriented training programs, including certified courses through YTEPP, institutional rehabilitation work with the UNDP and Trinidad & Tobago Prison Service, and large-scale installations for schools, NGOs, and commercial clients. Rayanna has personally trained and empowered hundreds of farmers, youth, and women across the region in sustainable agriculture and entrepreneurship.
In addition to her technical roles, Rayanna is a respected Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) and Gender Specialist, having worked on high-impact regional projects such as REBYC-III CLME+ and EAF4SG, funded by FAO and GEF. Through these roles, she contributed to the development of gender-responsive frameworks, logical results-based models, and regional action plans across multiple countries, including Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, Suriname, and Barbados.
As the Editor of Green Caribbean Magazine, Rayanna curates and publishes compelling content that celebrates Caribbean innovation in agriculture, food systems, climate action, and youth empowerment. Her editorial vision has transformed the magazine into a regional platform that bridges science, storytelling, and sustainability—amplifying local voices and community solutions. She also author the Green Thumb Column in the Catholic News and The Agrifacts Column in the Presbyterian News of Trinidad and Tobago.
She also serves as the Chief of Operations for PLANS Agroprocessing Facility. PLANS Agroprocessing Facility is a proudly Trinidadian-owned and operated business dedicated to adding value to Caribbean-grown produce through sustainable agroprocessing, packaging, and innovation. Established to support regional food security and reduce reliance on imports, PLANS transforms fresh, locally sourced ingredients into high-quality, shelf-stable products that celebrate the rich culinary heritage of the Caribbean.
Whether designing aquaponics systems in schools, writing policy briefs, developing M&E frameworks, or empowering women in fisheries and farming, Rayanna Boodram remains a passionate advocate for inclusive development, ecological justice, and regional transformation. Her work continues to inspire the next generation of agri-leaders across the Caribbean.
